Enhanced Fluids Treatment

Enhanced Fluids Treatment

Conventional solids-control equipment and methods cannot remove low-gravity solids smaller than 5 to 7 microns that accumulate and degrade the performance of costly oil- and synthetic-base drilling fluids. The only conventional treatment is to dilute the mud system to maintain the proper density and rheological properties. This in turn results in greater volumes of waste that must be treated and sent for disposal.

Dewatering.  The portable, containerized dewatering systems from M-I SWACO remove these fine particles through a process of chemically enhanced centrifugation that is significantly more effective and economical than a high-speed centrifuge alone. This gives operators a powerful tool for maintaining optimum drilling fluid properties, while minimizing drilling-fluid waste and reducing cleanup, treatment and disposal costs. Several designs of dewatering units are available to fit any onshore or offshore rig requirement.

The RECLAIM* System.  Using a combination of proprietary chemistry and specialized equipment, the portable RECLAIM system removes low-gravity solids from oil- and synthetic-base drilling fluids and recovers valuable base oil.  In addition, the RECLAIM system improves drilling fluid performance; increases ROP; and reduces formation damage, stuck-pipe occurrences, and disposal, storage and transportation costs.  The RECLAIM system significantly reduces the volume of waste mud and the risk of spillage during transportation; provides a dry, closed-loop system onsite; and produces cleaner fines for disposal.
