M-I SWACO introduces CD-600 centrifuge at OTC

HOUSTON (May 5, 2008) - M-I SWACO introduced its CD-600* centrifuge at the 2008 Offshore Technology Conference. The unit is controlled and monitored via a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and is specially engineered for high-volume drilling.

By employing the PLC, the CD-600 experiences less solids packoff than competitive units, thereby producing cleaner effluents. The centrifuge requires fewer operating personnel and features automatic adjustment for different operating conditions.

A touch screen on the operator’s console provides the interface for monitoring the RPM of the conveyor and bowl and for adjusting motor speed. The manual control panel provides the option for operating the unit manually or automatically. When the CD-600 is operated manually, the main drive speed can be adjusted on the touch screen panel.

M-I SWACO, which is based in Houston, TX and jointly owned 60% by Smith International, Inc. (NYSE, PSE:Sii) and 40% by Schlumberger Limited (NYSE:SLB), is a leading provider of a wide range of products and engineering services designed to deliver Drilling Solutions, Environmental Solutions, Wellbore Productivity and Production Technologies. The company is strategically located in more than 70 countries.
